OXFORD, Miss. -- In the final few minutes of No. 3 Mississippis 34-3 victory over Tennessee, the Volunteers decided to go for it on fourth-and-1, giving the ball to Derrell Scott for a run right up the middle. He couldnt even get back to the line of scrimmage. Issac Gross met Scott in the backfield, wrapping him up and slamming him to the turf as those that remained at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium roared in approval. It was an exclamation point to a nearly flawless night for the Ole Miss defence, which is already statistically the best in the Southeastern Conference and improving. Bo Wallace completed 13 of 28 passes for 199 yards and two touchdowns, connecting with Vince Sanders and Evan Engram on the scores. Sanders had 108 yards receiving. That was more than enough for the Ole Miss defence. Theyre phenomenal, Wallace said. Theyre fun to watch. Before the season I knew they were good. I didnt know they were this good. All I have to do is take care of the ball. Ole Miss (7-0, 4-0 SEC) fell behind 3-0 early in the second quarter, but scored the next 34 points. With a relatively easy win, the Rebels continued their best start since 1962. Ole Miss came into the game giving up just 11.8 points per game, which ranked first in the SEC and second in the country. The Rebels lived up to those numbers, stuffing Tennessees running game and harassing quarterback Justin Worley nearly every time he tried to throw. Worley threw three interceptions and the Volunteers (3-4, 0-3) also lost a fumble. Turnovers were the story of the game, Tennessee coach Butch Jones said. We had a lot of negative yardage. When you are 3 for 16 on third-down conversions you are not giving yourself an opportunity to be in the game and win. Tennessees young offensive line, which includes two starting freshmen, had no answer for a relentless Ole Miss pass rush. The Rebels defence had seven sacks, including 2 1/2 from star freshman Marquis Haynes. Senquez Golson grabbed two interceptions, pushing his league-leading total to seven. Things are rolling for us for sure, Golson said. We have the best defensive line, the best linebacker corps and the most potential. But it doesnt mean anything until the end of the season. Ole Miss has allowed only six touchdowns all season. The Volunteers never came particularly close to the end zone on Saturday and finished with 191 total yards, including zero yards rushing. When you make someone one-dimensional, youve got a good chance to win, Freeze said. I did think we were able to get consistent pressure with our front four. The night started with dominant defence from both sides. Ole Miss didnt earn a first down until its fourth drive and Tennessee took a 3-0 lead early in the second quarter on Aaron Medleys 27-yard field goal. That would be the Volunteers lone offensive highlight. Wallace suffered through a slow start, completing just 4 of his first 15 passes. But two straight completions to Sanders -- a 28-yarder and then a 39-yard touchdown -- gave the Rebels a 7-3 lead midway through the second quarter and finally ignited the offence. He didnt have a standout game on Saturday, but continued to minimize mistakes. He hasnt had a turnover in four SEC games. Golson grabbed his first interception of the game on Tennessees ensuing drive, and Ole Miss turned that into another touchdown when Jaylen Walton ran 7 yards for the score and a 14-3 halftime lead. Tennessee had some decent moments on offence, but couldnt consistently protect Worley when he tried to throw. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound senior was sacked five times and threw two interceptions in the first half. Ole Miss pulled away in the third quarter, pushing its lead to 24-3 on a 28-yard touchdown pass from Wallace to a diving Engram. Worley finished 19 of 34 passing for 191 yards. Josh Malone caught five passes for 75 yards. Linebacker A.J. Johnson had 10 tackles. Tennessee has traditionally dominated the series with Ole Miss, winning 12 straight games from 1984 to 2005. But Ole Miss has changed a lot of trends under third-year coach Hugh Freeze and has now won two out of the last three meetings. If you look at stats, and everybody does, if we score 17, 20 or in the mid-20s, we have a chance to win a lot of games with the way the (defence) is playing, Freeze said. Chinas skip Bingyu Wang cut that lead to 3-1 in the fourth before Canada added another three in the fifth for a 6-1 lead. Cheap Miami Marlins Jerseys . Didnt need any help this time. Wood beat Cincinnati for the first time in his career, repeatedly pitching out of threats for seven innings, and Chicago stalled the Reds week-long surge with a 2-0 victory Monday night. http://www.cheapmarlinsjerseys.com/. The Oilers jumped into the free agent market early by signing defencemen Keith Aulie (six-foot-six, 228 pounds) and Mark Fayne (6-3, 210 pounds) and left-winger Benoit Pouliot (6-3, 197-pounds). Two days earlier MacTavish traded lightweight forward Sam Gagner to Tampa Bay for 6-3, 203-pound right winger Ted Purcell. Cheap MLB Jerseys Authentic .ca. In Sundays Blackhawks-Penguins game, Pittsburgh defenceman Brooks Orpik laid a huge hit on Chicagos Jonathan Toews. Now in my view, Orpik can be clearly seen leaving his feet while delivering a moderately high hit.MILWAUKEE -- It was a tough night at the ballpark for Ryan Braun. First, the Brewers slugger accidentally knocked shortstop Jean Segura out of the game after hitting him in the head with his bat while warming up on the top steps of the dugout in the first. Braun departed himself after the eighth with a slight chest muscle strain. The injuries wiped some of the lustre off Marco Estradas strong outing in a 5-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Saturday that gave Milwaukee its seventh win in eight games. Manager Ron Roenicke said Segura didnt have a concussion or fractures, but needed stitches to close a gash on his face. Segura might miss a few days, while Braun labeled himself as day to day. Foremost in Brauns mind was that Segura seemed to be OK after the scary moment. "Obviously, its never something thats done intentionally," Braun said. "You know whenever youre involved in a situation like that, I think it puts life in perspective and you realize how insignificant baseball is. Thank God from everything weve heard hes OK." Estrada (2-1) threw 7 2-3 strong innings with nine strikeouts. Jeff Bianchi went 2 for 4, entering the game as a pinch hitter in the first for Segura. The Brewers had to take a few moments to regroup after seeing Segura on the floor of the dugout in pain. He had to be helped to the clubhouse. Braun was facing the field on the top steps of the dugout, where he normally stations himself for his warmup routine. Segura, who was batting second ahead of third-place hitter Braun, was coming up the steps behind him, and a TV replay showed the All-Star shortstop getting it on the right side of the head. "It bugged me all game but its one of those things you hope you can prevent. I know Braunny felt bad," Roenicke said. "Bianchi came in and did a great job for him." Bianchi drove in two runs with a bases-loaded single in the second off Travis Wood (1-3). Francisco Rodriguez tossed a 1-2-3 ninth for his 11th save. Wood had his toughest outing of the season, yielding five runs and seven hits in 5 2-3 innings. &qquot; It was a grind and a battle tonight," he said.dddddddddddd "I didnt have my A game. I was missing balls and falling behind hitters." Estrada retired the first 10 hitters he faced -- a few on flyballs deep into the outfield -- before Luis Valbuena turned on a 2-0 fastball for a solo homer to right. The righty then retired 10 in a row again, effectively mixing a changeup and curveball with fastball in the high 80s. He maintained control until Welington Castillo hit a two-run shot in the eighth to get the Cubs within two. Estrada departed having allowed four hits and no walks. "Its the best Ive felt so far since spring training," Estrada said. "The last couple games, I just havent felt like myself. But today I did." Chicago, which lost its fourth straight, is already 10 1/2 games back in the NL Central behind division-leading Milwaukee, which has the majors best record at 18-6. "The teams rolling right now and just kind of riding the waves, going with it, and playing outstanding ball," Wood said. But the win was overshadowed somewhat by the injury to Segura, adding to whats already been a tough start of the season. Segura, who was hitting .239, also missed the last two weeks of spring training with sore right shoulder. Braun has also had somewhat of a tricky start after returning to the lineup this season following a 65-game doping suspension. Braun is hitting .318, but hes also been dealing with a lingering right hand injury that carried over from last year. NOTES: Chicago placed struggling reliever Jose Veras on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique. RHP Brian Schlitter was recalled from Triple-A Iowa, and arrived in time for the game. Veras had a 15.88 ERA and blew both of his save opportunities. ... The Cubs have lost seven of eight to Milwaukee dating to last season. ... Rodriguez picked up his 315th save, three behind Rick Aguilera for 17th place on the career list. ... Chicago will try to avoid a sweep by sending Jason Hammel (3-1) to mound Sunday against Wily Peralta (3-0).
