Post ts the advantage you have as an experienced team
With Week 1 of the NFL and Fantasy season in the books, TSN.ca takes a look at the top performers (studs) and biggest disappointments (duds) of the opening week. Studs QB: Matt Ryan, Matt Stafford, Andrew Luck. Ryan set a Falcons franchise record with 448 yards against the Saints defence and added three touchdowns as the Falcons earned an overtime win. Ryan put up 31.42 fantasy points to lead all players in Week 1. Stafford picked apart the Giants secondary for 346 yards and two touchdowns. He added a five-yard rushing touchdown to give him the second-best fantasy stat line of the week. Luck battled back from an awful first half against the Denver Broncos and put up 370 yards and two touchdowns in a losing effort. Lucks night was hurt by two interceptions and a failed quarterback sneak on fourth-and-goal from the one-yard line. Surprise Stud: Jake Locker Locker, an unpopular fantasy quarterback, spread the ball out against the Kansas City Chiefs with 226 passing yards and two touchdowns. Playing behind one of the best offensive lines in football, Locker connected with eight different receivers. He attempted to run the ball six times, but picked up just 14 yards. Locker finished as the fifth-best QB in Week 1. RB: LeVeon Bell, Marshawn Lynch. Bell added 88 receiving yards to his 109 yards and one touchdown on the ground to earn the highest point total of any running back this week. Working against the Packers defence, Marshawn Lynch churned out 110 yards and two touchdowns to finish less than a point behind Bell. Surprise Stud: Knowshon Moreno. Following off-season knee surgery and playing in just one preseason game, Moreno silenced his critics with 134 yards and a touchdown against the Patriots defence. Moreno played a major role in the Dolphins upset win and proved he can have success in an offence not run by Peyton Manning. Honourable mention to Mark Ingram (two rushing touchdowns). WR: Calvin Johnson, A.J. Green. Not surprisingly, Johnson proved why he was (or should have been) the first wide receiver off the board in every fantasy draft. Johnson hauled in a league-high 164 yards and added two touchdowns against the Giants to lead all wide outs in Week 1 points. Green burned the Ravens secondary for 131 yards and a touchdown, including the game-winning 77-yard score. Both these men should continue to dominate the fantasy world on the perimeter. Surprise Stud: Allen Hurns. Allen Who? Hurns, owned in virtually no fantasy leagues, finished second only to Megatron at wide receiver in points this week. An undrafted free agent from Miami, Hurns dominated in the preseason with 14 catches for 232 yards and continued his strong play on Sunday against the Eagles. Hurns hauled in four passes for 110 yards and two touchdowns while working as a starting wide receiver in his first career contest. Though the Jaguars passing offence remains questionable, Hurns may be worth a flier in fantasy leagues as long as Cecil Shorts remains sidelined. TE: Julius Thomas. Thomas dominated the tight end landscape with three touchdowns to go with his 104 receiving yards. Emerging as Peyton Mannings favourite red-zone target, Thomas could challenge Jimmy Graham as fantasys top tight end this season. Surprise stud: Larry Donnell. The stud title being used loosely, Donnell hauled in his first career touchdown and 56 yards in the Giants loss to the Lions on Monday. He had a team-high five receptions in the loss and could be a worthy fantasy tight end if Eli Manning continues to target him. Duds QB: Aaron Rodgers, Tony Romo. It was no secret Rodgers had a tough matchup against the Seattle Seahawks defence and, with the exception of one drive, Rodgers and the Packers offence was all but shut down. Rodgers finished with 189 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Romo and the Cowboys offence got off to the worst start imaginable with three interceptions and a Demarco Murray fumble in the first half. Romo finished with 281 yards and a touchdown, but his three interceptions killed his stat line. RB: Jamaal Charles, Reggie Bush, Toby Gerhart. Charles had a disastrous start to his season with just 19 yards on the ground. He caught four passes for 19 yards but Charles, along with the Chiefs offence, was bottled up by the Titans in Week 1. Bush ran for just 15 yards on nine carries against the Giants on Monday night. He added six catches for 49 to help add points, but it was a disappointing night for the Lions lead back. Gerhart was touted as the focal point of the Jaguars offence this off-season but rushed for just 48 yards on 18 carries against the Eagles. Gerhart left the game briefly with an ankle injury before he returned with little effectiveness. Packers running back Eddie Lacy also struggled, but suffered a concussion in the first half. WR: Dez Bryant, Demaryius Thomas. Two of fantasys biggest names were amongst the biggest disappointments in Week 1. Facing the 49ers, Bryant put up just 55 yards, while Thomas hauled in just four of his 11 targets for 48 yards as the Broncos scored 31 points against the Colts. Both should bounce back, but not in time to save many of their owners from 0-1 starts. TE: Jason Witten, Jordan Cameron. A long standing top fantasy tight end, Witten was targeted just once by Romo on Sunday. He caught his lone target for 14 yards. Cameron, the top weapon in the Browns offence, had 47 receiving yards in the teams loss. His status for Week 2 is in question after sustaining a shoulder injury against the Steelers. For the top players worth picking up with this week, read the Waiver Wire. Ilkay Gundogan Jersey . Tensions rose in the first period when Penguins defenceman Brooks Orpik hit Bruins forward Loui Eriksson with what appeared to be a clean hit. Manuel Neuer Germany Jersey . Chris Capuano. Shane Greene. And now, Esmil Rogers. http://www.germanysoccerporshop.com/aut ... ny-jersey/. The announcement was made by the hall on Friday, March 14. She joins Switzerlands Denise Biellmann as this years inductees to the Hall, based in Colorado Springs, CO. Thomas Muller Germany Jersey . Alina Fodorova of Ukraine took third place. Broersen based her gold-medal performance on great high jumping, and finished with 4,830 points, while Theisen-Eaton, from Humboldt, Sask., set a national record of 4,768. Jonas Hector Jersey . Calgarys Bo Levi Mitchell and Montreals Troy Smith will be the starting quarterbacks in a CFL season-opener for the first time in their careers. Both want to reinforce their No. 1 status. You can watch the game live in the first half of a doubleheader on TSN and TSN GO at 3:00pm et/Noon pt.TORONTO - Toronto Raptors head coach Dwane Casey used words like growing, adjusting and learning frequently throughout a 30-minute conference call with reporters Monday. His young team is soaking up the NBA playoff experience and showing the Brooklyn Nets that they wont be pushovers at the same time. What Caseys squad lacks in experience, it makes up for in effort. That was on full display a day earlier as Toronto showed its mettle in an 87-79 road victory that tied the best-of-seven first-round series at two games apiece. The Raptors are focused on results this spring but theyre also trying to build a foundation they hope will lead to long-term success. Were a young team, nobody expected us to be here, Casey said. Every experience is a new experience for us. Guys are growing in every situation. After a jittery start, Toronto has held its own against a tough Brooklyn lineup that features veteran players Kevin Garnett, Joe Johnson, Paul Pierce and Deron Williams. The Raptors are banged up and have had to go deep into their bench over the first four games. But they have responded well as a team in a series that will be a key building block for the future.Going through the playoffs is nothing but a plus for our franchise, Casey said. As I said, you dont want it to be a one-time (appearance) in the playoffs and never be seen again for six more years. You want it to be a growing experience. With our core guys being so young, that should be their goal going forward. Now that youve been in the playoffs once, you know what it tastes like, you know what it feels like. You know going through the season when the coach is preaching physicality, how hard youve got to play, how youve got to take care of the ball, why hes saying that. Because all that comes into play in playoff basketball.Several Toronto players are nursing injuries but most are expected to be available for Wednesdays Game 5 at Air Canada Centre.Among the starters, Kyle Lowry has been hobbled by a sore knee and Amir Johnson has had ankle problems. Patrick Patterson was a little gimpy last night, according to Casey, who added that Landry Fields (back) was feeling much better. Were nicked up, banged up a little bit but nothing that we know of thats major right now, Casey said. The series will return to Barclays Center on Friday for Game 6. If a seventh game is necessary, it will be played on Sunday in Toronto. This whole series for us is a learning experience because we are such a young team, Casey said. Its the first time in the playoffs for a lot of our key guys. So Im learning that they are growing from it..ddddddddddddThey are getting better in certain situations and theyre still making mistakes in certain situations. But the adjustment part is something thats big for us. To be able to change things on a days notice or even in game situations, thats good to know and good to see.DeMar DeRozan scored 24 points in the Game 4 win and Lowry added 22. The Raptors came through with key defensive stops late in the game and showed they wont be intimidated by the Nets.I think as the series has gone on our guys have gotten more comfortable, Casey said. But again we know were going against a very veteran, experienced team that has seen everything and experienced everything.Theyre going to make some adjustments, were going to have to continue to make adjustments as the series goes on.The Raptors have managed to split the first four games despite the struggles of starter Terrence Ross, who was held off the scoresheet in 16 minutes of play on Sunday.Casey plans to stick with the youngster, noting its important to keep an eye on long-term development as the post-season continues. The only thing that will help him next year is to go through this, he said. He is a talented young man. This says nothing about his potential and where hes going to be this time next year. This is still a learning experience for him. Is he going to stub his toe? Yes. But hes still got to go through it.I thought his defence was superb in the first quarter last night against Deron Williams. I thought he did a good job. Hes just got to get a feel and a rhythm and a style of play with his offence. The Raptors should get a boost from the boisterous Air Canada Centre crowd. Casey wants his players to feed off that energy and build on what they have accomplished so far.I think our guys are growing as we go, he said. Thats the hard thing about being a young team in the playoffs. A team like Brooklyn has seen everything, theyve experienced everything, theyve had every atmosphere you can have in the playoffs and some of them have won championships.Thats the advantage you have as an experienced team and the disadvantage you have as a young team. But our guys are growing and learning as we go.Notes: Game 4 was a ratings hit for TSN. Overnight data from BBM Canada indicated an average audience of 885,000 viewers watched the game. It was the second most-watched Raptors game ever, just behind the teams Game 7 second-round loss to Philadelphia in 2001, the network said in a release. Sports TV ratings have skyrocketed in recent years following the introduction of a new ratings system.Follow @GregoryStrongCP on Twitter.
